A seminar is never, in any way, a panacea to all of your problems, but it can alleviate your problems in time. Makeovers are not done overnight, and good changes are slow burns that grow beautifully if you are just patient. Drastic changes are often disastrous and this is not where you want to be in your life. A seminar, even, is a perfect example of how changing small things in life generally change life for the better in the end. So it’s a perfect thing hope, but don’t wish for that miracle solution.
Firstly, line up your expectations to life’s realities. Don’t expect results to happen immediately – they will, but not after just a day or a weekend. After all, it wouldn’t feel as satisfying if you just got a result in a snap – just like that. There’s no excitement, no investment in such a result. In a miracle result you can never truly say “Oh, I’ve been like that before, and look at what I am now. That is so surreal.” If you notice the change overtime, however, you will realize, in a breathtaking moment, how changed a person you are. Wouldn’t that be exciting? But first you must know these few things…
Know that only sleep-overs and assignments happen overnight. Building a change within you is an entirely different matter, and changing yourself is a very fulfilling task you will carry on until the end of your life. It goes to say that seminars are not there to provide you instant remedies or instant ways to up your life to a new level. The presenters only provide you the knowledge and the tools - you will have to grow and develop yourself, all by yourself. Don’t worry, it’s not scary, it’s a rather beautiful thing if you know the way. So how do we let this knowledge grow in our lives?
First, you must set specific goals. You must specify the goal up to the date or time span of which you will want to achieve that goal. It must be precise. Like “By the end of December, I will lose 15 pounds using the methods taught by the seminar.” That will give you a deadline, and you can and will develop the discipline needed to catch up with this deadline.
Second, record the development towards the goal. You can write it in a journal, or record the activity that leaned a lot towards achieving that goal. Monitoring your development is as important as reaching the final stage, which is your goal. This is to ensure that you’re not deviating from what you’re trying to do.
Third, never give up. Never ever, ever give up. The tendency is for you to become discouraged after realizing that you have not attained anything noticeable at all after a few days. That is normal, and that shouldn’t stop you. Again, this is a test of discipline… If you’re able to hold on to what you believe is right to achieve that specific goal, you will get it. It’s only a matter of time.
